Lakeville South Boys Soccer defeated Rosemount with a score of 2 – 1.
The Cougars went down 1-0 in the first half. Seconds after conceding a goal, the Cougars bounced back with the equalizer. Kevin Hernandez was able to play a long pass into Loic Mesanvi’s path. Loic was able to beat the Goalkeeper to the ball, at the corner of the 18. He spun and shot for the first goal of the season for the Cougars.
In the second half, the Cougars were able to combine in the attacking half to get the game winning goal. Loic Mesanvi played a through ball to Garret O’Meara. He was able to get control and chip the Rosemount GK.
The coaching staff was happy with the result today. Season openers usually entail knocking off some rust. We had quite a few ups and downs, but I’m happy the boys stayed focused and were able to come from behind to get the win. That says a lot about our mentality as a team. Rosemount played with a lot of grit, and we really had to match their intensity in order to get the result we wanted. There were some great learning moments which will hopefully better prepare us for future games.
