Lisa Smith grew up playing softball in the south metro area of Minnesota and graduated from Eastview High School in Apple Valley, MN. Directly out of high school and all through college she coached successful, competitive traveling fastpitch and basketball teams for Eastview and Winona programs. She earned undergraduate degrees in Physical Education, Health Education, Developmental Adaptive Physical Education and Coaching from Winona State University and did her Master’s work at the University of Northern Iowa.
Coach Smith was hired as a Health and Physical Education Teacher at Lakeville South High School in January 2020. Coach Smith piloted the program with support from Special Olympics and became an ambassador for the program nationwide.

Currently, she is the MNSHAPE Immediate Past President, she sits on the SHAPE America Central District Leadership Council, and is a founding member of the SHAPE America Equity Diversity and Inclusion Council.
