Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving · LSHS Announces New Co-Head Girls Swimming and Diving Coaches

Pending board of education approval, Lakeville South High School is proud to announce Madison McBride and Tim Mitchell as co-head coaches of the girls’ Swimming and Diving Team. Lakeville South Activities Director Tom Dasovich has this to say: “We are fortunate to have two great coaches and people like Coach McBride and Coach Mitchell serve as co-head coaches of our program. We are excited to see them build upon and continue the tremendous legacy of success and care for student athletes that Coach Rick Ringeisen has built.”

Having grown up and graduated from Lakeville, Madison McBride is thrilled at this opportunity to lead the swim program that helped define her high school experience. Having first started swimming at the age of 12, McBride swam with Lakeville South for six years under former head coach, Rick Ringeisen. Her senior year, she served as a team captain and swam at the state meet. After high school, she attended Carleton College, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in history and a minor in educational studies. There, she swam on the MIAC Conference team and served as a team captain. Swimming has been a huge part of her life and she is glad to continue to stay connected to it into her adulthood.

After graduating, McBride became a social studies teacher. In the process, she was introduced to the world of coaching – first serving as an assistant coach for the Southwest High School Girls team in Minneapolis. Currently, McBride teaches geography and history at Lakeville South High School. Since coming back to South to teach three years ago, she has worked with Coach Ringeisen and Coach Tim Mitchell with both the girls and boys teams. She loves being able to see students in another setting outside the classroom and help them become strong and successful individuals.

Tim Mitchell has been a member of the Lakeville swimming community for his whole life. He began swimming competitively at the age of 7 and has competed at some of the highest levels during his career. He was a member of the Lakeville North Swim Team for 6 years where he was a multiple time All-Conference and All-State recipient while also serving as a captain his senior year on the team. He continued his career swimming at the Division 1 level while attending Valparaiso University and graduated with a degree in finance.

Since graduating, Tim has held multiple positions as a swim coach. He was an assistant coach for the Prior Lake High School Boys Swim Team before becoming an assistant coach for both the Lakeville South Boys and Girls Swim Teams where he had the opportunity to work with many of the coaches who had an impact on his life. Tim is also currently a coach for South Metro Storm Club, one of the premier Swim programs in Minnesota. He is excited to take this next step in his coaching career and further develop as a coach.

Both Coach Mitchell and Coach McBride are eager to carry on the legacy of Lakeville swimming. They aim to help the team transition to new traditions while maintaining the team’s dedication to character, discipline, and inclusivity.
