On Tuesday 10/10, Lakeville South Boys Soccer (#4 Seed) defeated Farmington (#1 Seed), 1-0.
The Cougars entered the 1AA Semifinals Matchup as underdogs, having lost their regular season matchup to Farmington, by a score of 6-1.
The cold and rainy conditions still allowed for a very competitive game. There where chances on both ends, but the halftime score was 0-0. In the second half, the Cougars were able to create a few more scoring chances, and capitalized with about 18 minutes left in the game. Sam Just scored the lone goal; assisted by Loic Mesanvi. The Cougars defended well in the final waves of attack from Farmington. Wyatt Hall earned the shutout in goal, and finished with 8 saves.
The Cougars coaching staff were very impressed with the determination shown by the team. They’ve really bought into the team system, and are starting to peak at the right time. We had some great learning moments through the season, which taught us how to play in different game situations.
Boys Soccer will face Rochester Mayo in the Section 1AA Finals, on Tuesday 10/15. They enter the game on a 3 game win streak, in which they have only allowed one goal against.
